ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be hosting a car seat safety check-up in Abilene to for local parents to their children are safe when in traveling by car, according to a TxDOT press release.
Properly installed child safety and booster seats offer the best protection for children in the event of a car crash. However, three out of four car seats are not properly installed, according to the release.
Common child safety seat errors include:
Installing the seat too loosely
Putting the harness straps through the wrong slots
Leaving harness straps too loose; positioning the chest clip incorrectly
Using the wrong seat belt path
The check-up event will be held at the north side Wal Mart located at 1650 State Highway 351 on Saturday, August 25 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
